Our family’s Summer is off to a wonderful start! I feel so lazy though. :P My session schedule is a little light and that’s a good thing, because I find I just want to spend time in the sunshine or reading my books and not tied to a computer. Plus we have the the usual “stuff” keeping us busy like Summer camp, Summer lacrosse, Vacation Bible School, dance camps and our fun vacays.
So what’s new in Millerland this Summer?
1. Summer camp starts for my kids this coming week. This is the first year Grace can go and I guess it will give me a little taste of what’s to come in September when she boards the bus for Kindergarten. I am already traumatized just thinking about it…
2. Speaking of school, everyone got their teacher assignments for K, 4th and 5th grade this Fall. Everyone is happy. :)
3. My oldest daughter Emily decided she wanted to try out for the dance competition team at our studio. She put her shoes on, danced for a panel of judges… and got her acceptance letter! I am so proud of her for wanting to do something and doing it all alone. In the end though, she did turn down the spot for this year when she realized it interfered with her Summer lacrosse game schedule (what are the odds both things have to take place on a Thursday night?!) She was sad. I felt bad for her. But we stuck with the first commitment she made and figure hey, there’s always next year. It’s tough being a beautiful ballerina on one hand and a sweaty, superstar lacrosse player on the other. ;)
4. On July 1st, I started a brand new fitness plan. Very excited and I am doing good so far, 6 solid days in. I am spinning (biking), counting calories and just started adding in weight training. If I can finally get my hubby to join the gym with me, I will get a little more involved with the weights. ;) I want him as my personal trainer!
Here’s our Summer Fun List that was presented to the kids on the last day of school. We’ve already knocked lots of stuff off including Boogie Boarding, Camping, Despicable Me 2 (Oh man, so funny!), Ice Cream for Breakfast, Lego Dump, Marshmallow Roast, Monster’s U, Ralph’s Ices, Sandcastles, Stargazing & Swimming. The kids’ very favorite activity thus far has been night swimming in our pool watching the fireworks overhead on the 4th of July. They decided that it must be added to the Summer Fun List next year!
The following are just a handful of pictures from our Summer so far including night swimming, 4th of July (watermelon shot) and our visit to Long Beach yesterday.
Check back {hopefully} by the end of the weekend for our new camping scrapbook!
I love seeing your family photos every year. Your kids are so adorable and photogenic and you of course take the most amazing pictures.
You make having 3 kids seem so easy.
I love your summer activity board. It’s very creative and colorful. Can you please tell me what you used to write on the board? Those neon colors are amazing!! Thank you.
Thank you Vicky! For the board, I bought Crayola Dry Erase CRAYONS! Very cool! They worked great!
Wow Gina your pictures are gorgeous. I have been following your blogs for years and stop by every once in a while to check out your shots. I can’t believe how beautiful your pics are though. You have a true talent in the whole creative process from scrapbooking to photography. Your blogs posts are always so entertaining and fun to read and you inspire me to be more proactive at capturing my kids memories. I have no idea how you find time to do all this though. I work 16-20 hours a week at night and the rest of the time I am home and I can’t keep up on my scrapbooking and all these cool ideas you do like your summer “to do” list :) Do you just not sleep I suppose? Ha ha…Thanks for taking the time to do this blog. I love looking at your pics and they inspire me to get some better pics of my kids :) Your Emily post was amazing too. So sweet and well written!!
