Kenzie was such a sweetie! I got to visit her in her home for some casual outdoor shots at 10 months old. In another few weeks, she’ll be making her way to my home studio for a cake smash! Looking forward to it. :)
With Mother’s Day this weekend, this seemed like the perfect session to Blog. I got some sweet shots of Kenzie and her Mommy, Heather. I love the way their peach and magenta tops photographed together. Happy 1st Mother’s Day Heather!
Happy Mother’s Day mommies! <3

new year’s eve cupcakes | free printable
Posted on December 22, 2011
I realize it’s a bit early to post pictures of New Year’s Eve cupcakes when we haven’t reached Christmas yet, but in 2nd grade, you celebrate New Year’s. That means, party hats, confetti, air horns (that must have been a fun drive home for our bus driver, let me tell you) and cupcakes! I was assigned the cupcakes for my son’s class and I wanted to do something clean & simple. I kept seeing silver and blue so this is what I came up with.

I was really happy with them. They were plain vanilla with vanilla frosting. Even better than the tasty cupcake were the toppers I made for them. So simple and yet you can personalize them in so many ways! All you need are white lollipop sticks, curling ribbon, a bit of glue, cardstock and some printable designs (provided for you below). You may also want tape and waxed paper before assembling.

I printed my sheet of toppers and cut them out. I designed them as small squares because I wasn’t bothering with a circle cutter. I used my paper trimmer and these took seconds to cut apart. Then I tied ribbon on my lollipop sticks. Curl. They wanted to slide down a bit no matter how tight I tied them so I ended up taping each stick to some waxed paper to hold it straight. Then I added a dab of glue around the center part of the tied ribbon, just so it wouldn’t move. I went back and glued on the toppers. Done. I baked my cupcakes one night, assembled the toppers the next day and frosted the cupcakes later that second day. They weren’t much work at all broken down like this. I even made a second batch the following day for my oldest daughter’s holiday party. She got snowmen and those snowmen only had time for a quick iPhone shot. I frosted hers with a smaller dollop of frosting and lots of clear sugar crystals.

I ended up designing a third set of tags for my Christmas Eve table. I am making chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and sticking some cute red & green gingerbread and Christmas tree toppers in there. I used some stickers from my Figgy Pudding element pack. I have those and the New Years Eve set available as a free download for you (in PDF form).

a booked calendar & cake smash sampling | long island birthday photographer
Posted on October 2, 2011
In case you didn’t see my message on Facebook, I am just passing the word that my photography calendar is completely booked for the remainder of 2011 with the exception of a few weekday slots open for newborns and cake smashes. This makes me both happy and a bit sad. Happy because busy is good. Sad because many people wait until too late to schedule their family photos and then I have to say no, something I really don’t like to do. I have a strict rule for myself and I follow it each year: aside from newborns, I do not shoot in December. Christmas is a very special, important time for me and my family and I plan lots of activities for my kids. They will only be little once, and I can’t trade in the weekends of crafting and baking and visiting Santa for photographs. This is one reason I book so quickly. I try to get my package info out there in the middle of August so next year, please make sure you book early! By time September 1st rolls around, 3/4 of my holiday calendar is gone. As always, thank you for your continued support, bookings, referrals and friendship!
Now about those smashes…
August saw an influx of cake smashes here in my home. Fun! I always feel so guilty when I don’t get a chance to Blog each session at length but there comes a time when they start stacking on top of each other, I have some personal photos I want to share, and a session or two falls between the cracks. It bothers me because I want to share ALL of my cute clients here with you. :) I thought I would share a picture or two from each smash that I’ve photographed in the past 6 weeks and that will hopefully bring me to date as far as Blogging sessions goes. Everyone deserves a chance in the spotlight.
WARNING: You may experience sweetness overload after scrolling through the following images!
This is Kate. Kate’s Mom is an art teacher and you could totally tell that this kid must play with paint and get messy often. She loved her cake and at one point, picked the entire thing up and tried to walk off with it!

Next up we have Liana. Liana was actually the recipient of my Cake Smash Giveaway. So glad I got to meet her!

Then we have Austin. What a doll! Moms of boys take note: the overall look was really adorable and I think it photographed perfectly!

And lastly, beautiful Brenna. Love my firefighter babies. :)

And that brings me semi up-to-date. I will inevitably fall behind again this Fall with the overload of shoots but my primary concern is editing your photos, posting at least a peek on Facebook and making sure I get your images to you in a timely manner. If ever you are not featured on the Blog, pretty please do not take it personally. There’s only so much these little fingers can type!
I did four shoots this week: two newborns, a nearly two year old boy and a family on the lake. Lets see if I can get some of those sessions posted soon!
Hope you’re having a good weekend!
price updates | newborn sneak peek
Posted on September 26, 2011
Hi everyone! The other day, I sat in Starbucks and reworked my packages to better fit the growth my business has seen this past year. :) I realized charging the same price for sessions done in my home studio as well as ones I traveled to (Especially newborns. Newborn sessions = lots of prop-toting!) didn’t make much sense and a small change was in order. I’ll be slowly updating my package info on the Blog. For now, I have the newborn package reworked. Every single newborn I’ve photographed since May has come to my home. I always try to explain to Mom that it works out better for them in the long run since I use backdrops and floordrops here, items I do not travel with. So if you want shots using larger props with assorted wallpapers and flooring, you’ll want to come here. Bonus: the package is actually cheaper because I don’t need to factor in travel time or the time spent loading my gear into and back out of the car. And of course, I completely understand if it’s easier for the photographer to come to you, hence the options. :)
Anyway, I thought I would share the updated newborn info tonight as well as a sneak peek of a session I did here this past Friday. This little munchkin was such a doll! She slept the whole time and was so easy to move in and out of poses. Love that! I have another newborn baby girl tomorrow and I’m thinking of incorporating some pumpkins with my handmade pumpkin hat. :)
Here’s a peek at super-sweet, super-sleepy Charlotte | 8 days new.

And some updated newborn session info:

PLEASE NOTE: If you have booked a newborn session with me and are on my calendar, these new prices do not apply to you. :)
Ok I’m off to watch Dancing With The Stars with my kids. It’s our Monday / Tuesday night “thing”. Have a great week!
family rules in print
Posted on September 21, 2011
After taking months off, I am back on Pinterest and pinning stuff like crazy this past week. So fun keeping up with your friends, their pins and all of the awesome ideas out there. If you click here you’ll see my pinboards. I probably find my fitness board most inspiring. Pinning all of these awesome Nike posters and running quotes really keeps me motivated to get out and hit the pavement. I also love gathering ideas for crafts for the kids, myself and holiday gifts. Here’s a Christmas board I started a few days ago to keep track of projects I want to get to this holiday season and here’s a Halloween board. Like I told my husband (who keeps catching me pinning stuff when I tell him I’m working), keeping a style board is both fun and much cheaper than going shopping for the actual outfits (although that would be nice too). :)
psst: If you are not on Pinterest and would like an invite, leave a comment here and I’ll send you one! I warn you: you’ll waste a good portion of your computer time pinning though. /disclaimer
The point of this entry today is to share my new print that I worked on the other day. One of my very favorite boards is my beautiful words board. Usually they are amazing quotes or phrases, sometimes with lots of color and more often than not, there’s cool typography involved. I was ordering a few photo prints for some clients the other day and realized I could totally make myself a board and order it in virtually any size through my lab. I could even have it matted on thin canvas if I wanted. I decided to keep it simple this time and recreated one of my favorite pins on an 11×14 canvas so I could easily frame it. I was originally creating it on a white canvas with colored text and then thought I would do something a little more bold and fun because well, the Millers are just that. :) I went with this pretty, deep orangey yellow. I plan on hanging our new set of FAMILY RULES right in the living room over our new espresso-colored bookcase. We have light mocha-colored walls and a mix of deep brown and country white furniture in the living room. I think the yellow will really stand out yet compliment the room as a whole. I can’t wait to see it hanging and framed in a few days! Then I’ll get to work on this.

I wanted to share this board in some way but I can’t in good conscience sell it since I didn’t come up with the original wording (although I did add the sibling line because well, that’s kind of important!) So if you would like to perhaps win a copy of these FAMILY RULES, leave a comment in this entry (please mention if you are entering yourself into the drawing, just want a Pinterest invite or both). I’ll send the 11×14 .jpg file right through e-mail to a lucky winner (or maybe two). Deadline to leave your comment is 9pm EST tomorrow (Thursday) night. I won’t change fonts or wording but if you want a color different from the yellow, I may change it for you. ;)
Have a great day!
home organization binder | free printable
Posted on September 12, 2011
First, I wanted to say thanks for all of the comments, new ideas and suggestions in my last entry regarding the home organizer. I’ll definitely be putting some of your ideas into motion. :) Some good news: Pack #2 of printables are already loaded into my store and will be available for sale this Wednesday – 50% off for the day! Some more good news: I have a free printable sheet for everyone to download and sample today! Due to exceeding my bandwith and the spike in Blog traffic during my last giveaway on National Scrapbooking Day, I am only keeping this link active for 24 hours. That means at 1pm EST on Tuesday September 13th, you will no longer be able to grab this sheet for free. Please make sure to download this sheet at your earliest convenience. Please do not contact me after the 24 hours to send you the sheet via e-mail. Unfortunately, I will not be able to accommodate those requests.
Now, onto the freebie! It’s actually a spin-off of the Chore Chart offered in my Starter Pack. After seeing how one of my customers altered that sheet to create something she could use daily, I knew she had a great idea. I wanted to offer a free sheet here today that would hopefully find a home in many of your binders. I wasn’t sure something geared towards working out or pets would do just that (but don’t worry, those are coming!) This Chore Chart can be printed once a week and used daily. The .pdf is blank. The .psd has my own chores listed to give you a jumping off point. Happy list-checking!
- the download has now expired. thanks for stopping by! -

Here’s a look at what’s being offered in Pack 2.

And last but not least, two randomly selected winners from this weekend’s contest!
Congrats Leigh and Aleena! I’ll be e-mailing you both coupons to pick up the Starter Pack and Pack 2 of my binder sheets!
Have YOU Blogged about your own binder? If so, link your entry in the comment field here. You must share pictures of your own binder that was put together with my printables. I’ll be giving away two $8 coupons that you can use on future printable packs or anything else of your choosing in my Lilypad shop. :) Deadline to leave your comment is noon EST on Wednesday September 14th.
If you grab the freebie today, make sure to leave a comment and say hi. I’d love to hear from you. :)
Thanks for playing along & enjoy the freebie!

The above three shots are all smashes I’ve photographed in the past week alone. Below I’ve included a few storyboards I had readily accessible on my MAC. I figured a little eye candy never hurt anyone, even if they are repeats. Hopefully it will get a few of you jazzed up about entering the contest! If you are local and have an almost one year old, I promise this will be such a fun time! If you’re not local but want to help spread the word, I would totally appreciate you linking to this entry. As always, thank you soooo much for the continued support. :)

I released three new products yesterday (all of which can be found HERE, marked down 20% for the weekend). My favorite one would have to be these cute frames and journal cards. I wanted a product that would be simple to use, clean in look and extremely versatile. I think these work! You can use them on Facebook, on your Blog, on a layout, printed and bound into a mini album, etc. This is package one and I am planning on releasing more sets in the near future. If you have any suggestions for journal prompts or frame captions, I am all ears! In fact, if I use your idea, I’ll gift you with that newly created pack for free!
Leave a comment below this entry and by the end of the weekend, I’ll give away a few sets!
Have a great day!
ATTENTION CLIENTS: My much-asked about Fall & holiday session info has been posted! Please check out that package info HERE.
